—Their junior instructor classes helps develop the kids’ leadership skills
Duluth— Choe’s HapKiDo Martial Arts offers a variety of kids martial arts programs at the following locations: Lawrenceville, Cumming, Duluth, and Flowery Branch. Throughout the week, classes run afternoon and evening, so a child could very well make martial arts as an after school activity.
Many of the leading instructors at the HapKiDo locations have been doing martial arts anywhere from ten to thirty plus years. A good way to learn a skill is to also be able to teach it. Choe’s HapKiDo offers junior instructor training classes for the kids, and this is where they are able to increase their leadership skills.
According to leading Instructor Dan Wilson of the Lawrenceville location, “Being able to watch the kids help each other is a great way to work on team building and communication skills.” To explain to one another on how to improve on a kicking or self-defense technique also increases the junior instructor’s understanding.
The junior instructor training classes are encouraged to the students, and they are optional. With well-supervised classes, kids who study martial arts benefit from being around the positive and encouraging environment.
Choe’s HapKiDo offers kids classes starting at three to four years old, with their Little Ninjas class, and up. Class times vary for each location.
