Learn Meditation at I Love Martial Arts Georgia!

At I Love Martial Arts Georgia, we guide individuals through all sorts of exercise to promote for a stronger, better life. One workout that we guide classes through is usually done right before warming up our bodies. In the martial arts world, meditation serves as a tool to connect the mind to the body.

According to Instructor Gasstrom from Choe’s HapKiDo in Loganville, “…your mind plays a significant part when doing physical training and conditioning as it will determine how long you will be able to handle the intensity of the workout. Therefore, by training your mind to overcome greater lengths and amount of workout, you will be able to have even better results.”

As fierce and wild as meditation sounds, it should not be overlooked as useless. It is simple, yet can be powerful. Neurologists have observed beneficial changes to the brain for those that undergo meditation: it can decrease pain sensitivity, improve mood associated to depression and anxiety, increase focus which greatly affect those with ADD/ADHD, and influence to be more awake and relaxed (Dvorsky).

While some studies have shown great changes to those who meditated five hours a day, people can receive benefits from this exercise by attempting 20 minutes a day. The mind is an incredible creation, as it can “memorize how much your body can handle and send it signals…[and] your body will perform against the limitations you set for yourself and improve with repetition (Gasstrom).

Meditation will not work like other forms of exercise because it’s in a zone of its own. If someone is looking for a way to relieve stress, then all forms of exercise including meditation will do. But if someone desires to improve in areas like mood, concentration and breathing, then meditation should be given a try. Especially if it is something that people can get into, it can be so beneficial to one’s health.

HapKiDo Betters a Child’s Social Skills

Children can have difficulty making friends. Some kids may struggle with shyness and social anxiety, which makes it hard to approach other kids. Other kids may be unaware that their behavior can discourage peers to approach them. Whether it is from the child being high in energy, impulsive, loud, or angry, other students will find reason to dislike one another and unfortunately stay away. Martial arts fixes the problems that kids have with each other by being a place where all kinds of students collaborate daily.

At Choe’s HapKiDo Martial Arts, people of different personalities and characters come together. They learn to work with one another, and they develop great respect towards each other. Children who learn HapKiDo grow more confident about themselves, and they learn how to take control of their emotions. They start making friends with everyone in class because of the bonding that takes place when working together.

With a well-rounded martial arts program like Choe’s HapKiDo Martial Arts, children who struggle with making friends will have an easier time to do so at school. They learn what their strength are and how to use them. The fear of approaching people or starting up conversations lessen because they are  around students of their age all the time. When it comes to ice breakers, sharing with someone new what belt rank they are and of different stories always impress listeners. And kids who struggle with anger or rudeness learn the importance of waiting in line patiently or letting others have their fair turn in a game.

When kids learn how to work together and put aside their differences, they can accomplish great tasks. As they spend time together in class holding kicking targets for each other and advising each other on how to improve a technique, they focus on helping one another.

Martial Arts Snellville Georgia Helps Children Exercise Their Focus Muscles

focus

When it comes to paying attention in school, anything can become a distraction to a child. Whether it is due to someone else in the classroom or to the wandering mind, there is always something. Depending on the child, the ability to focus in class eventually shows up in schoolwork and/or report cards. When grades begin to drop and report cards keep coming back with negative feedback, a child’s confidence and self-esteem also decreases. Extra tutoring and discipline can help, but there are ways to better a child’s focus: find a good martial arts program. Through a martial arts program, students walk away with a better understanding of themselves. One good program, Martial Arts Snellville Georgia is a life-changing solution for anyone who wants to improve the ability to focus.

Martial Arts Snellville Georgia understands the importance and beauty of being able to focus. From our many years of experience, martial arts is a sport that requires full attention. From the beginning of class where the instructor calls for attention and to the many exercises, the mind is required to concentrate on many objects for short amounts of time. Exercises that students are guided through in a typical class that will help increase a person’s focus ability include meditation, target kicking, tumbling, self-defense, and sparring.

At Martial Arts Snellville Georgia, the numerous exercises are highly beneficial. As meditation helps to calm the mind, it also results for a cool, alert mindset. By doing this at the beginning of class, it allows students to ready the mind. After the mind is prepared well, target kicking is best done when the eyes and mind are fully set on the target. If the mind wanders off or the gaze shifts, the performance will not be so successful. With target kicking, the mind focuses on the target but also on other factors to perform kicks such as height, speed, and distance. Similar to target kicking, tumbling and sparring require the same amount of attention. As the child is running towards the spot to roll, or s/he begins to block, there is no room for the mind to disappear.

Through a well-rounded martial arts program, like Martial Arts Snellville Georgia, children learn hands-on the effects of good focus. By spending time exercising the brain outside of school, students are able to apply what they learn in martial arts. They come to understand what it takes for them to fully concentrate, and they witness the success that comes with being present 110%.

Outcome4

Problems. Either you can live with or do something about them. At Choe’s HapKiDo, we influence, train, and encourage students to overcome obstacles. Developing this positive mindset is important because life throws curve balls at people all the time. Some people are stopped by challenges, but it is better when someone can get back up and keep going.

This good habit can turn into an effective skill. Especially when people will not always be available to help, it is beneficial when one can influence self to carry on. To be self-driven will help you grow in other areas such as self-discipline and dedication. For instance, self-discipline requires training that will produce near-perfect results. In order to do that, the individual must show dedication to wanting improve in any given discipline. And during the journey of trying to become better, challenges pop up everywhere: financial problems, health factors, discouragements, and much more. How people handle challenges will add to their journey.

If you can help it, why not do things that will help you succeed in the long run. A well-rounded martial arts program like Choe’s HapKiDo will show you how to do that. It will take practice, and you will need to persevere, but it is the way to be successful!
